The Electoral College

elec'toral col'lege: a body of electors chosen by the voters in each state to elect the President and Vice President of the U.S.

The above statement is the given definition from factmonster.com. To me the electoral college is basically a group of 538 representatives that help elect the new President and Vice President. The electoral college is a for of indirect election. Instead of the citizens voting directly for the president through popular votes, candidates are elected by electors that represent the citizens of each state. Each state has a certain amount of votes that go towards the election of the next president. The amount of votes a state can give towards the 270 needed for a candidate to win depends on the amount of Senators and Representatives they have in Congress.
I feel the electoral college was a great idea but, it still leaves me in between having mixed feelings about it. Its feel the positive of it is because it causes candidates to campaign all over the country not just in the states where the population is high. But I sort of disagree with it, because I feel the citzens should have more say in who's going to be running their homeland for the next four years.

Mayor Bloomberg and Term Limits

Mayor Bloomberg said he will run for a third term as mayor of NYC if the term limit law is changed. Write a blog explaining your opinion on this issue. Should he be able to be mayor for possibly 12 years?

I have mix feelings about Bloomberg having a third term. Changing the term limit would put a major twist on our future. I feel Bloomberg deserves the third term because he's been with New York through some tough times and has done New York City good. It would also be a good idea to keep him in office because New York is on it's way to a modern day depression. The stock market is POO! right now and changing our head official would just add to the mess. If Bloomberg is granted the third term I feel it should only be for this reelection. Because after this a corrupt official is liable to stay in office for a long period of time. So inconclusion, I'm for the third term but just for this term.

Terms each of the following can serve.

- President of the US- 2, 4 year terms

- Vice President of the US- no term limit

- US Senate- no limit, 6 year terms

- US House of Representatives- no limit, 2 year terms

- Supreme Court Justice- unlimited terms

- Governor of New York- no limit, 3 year terms

- Governor of California- no limit, 4 year terms

- Queens Borough President- no limit, 4 year terms

Republican or Democrat

A DEMOCRAT is someone pertaining or belongs to the democratic party. Democrats are mainly the middles class, and belive the government should mainly focus on that class rather than the rich. They feel they should pay less taxes being that they have a lower income. Which would then lead to the uprising of the middle class.

A REPUBLICAN pertains or belongs to the republican party. They feel the government shouldnt control businesses and such. In there eyes the government should basically play no role in businesses. They are usually for the richer class and bigger and better businesses.

I feel I'am part of teh independent party, because I don't vote and have no say in who runs our country. But, when I hit 18 I feel I would be a democrat the way things are going so far.
